As India’s lineup crumbled, Vaughan wasted little time stoking his friendly rivalry with Jaffer on X. The pair, known for their ongoing banter, often exchange quips whenever either India or England has a bad day. Vaughan also slipped in a cheeky jab about India’s recurring troubles against left-arm pace.

This wasn’t out of the blue. Just days earlier, when England were hammered by Australia in the Ashes opener in Perth, Jaffer had taken his own dig. England collapsed within two days, losing by eight wickets after Travis Head’s superb century and Mitchell Starc’s 10-wicket match haul destroyed them. Jaffer reacted with a pointed message:
