Seven NBA players have tested positive for Covid-19 out of 456 players tested by the league last week, the NBA announced Wednesday. The league does not track player results, but any player who tests positive is isolated or quarantined until they are cleared in accordance with NBA health and safety guidelines. The protocol requires those identified as having been in close contact with an infected person to be quarantined. The most recent outbreak came after the NBA postponed Toronto’s scheduled home game against the Chicago Bulls in Tampa, Florida on Sunday because the minimum eight players would not be available for the contest.
Another Raptors contest in Tampa, scheduled for Tuesday against Detroit, was delayed until Wednesday pending test results.
The Raptors listed five players — Psacal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn and Patrick McCaw — on Wednesday evening due to Covid-19 health and safety protocols.
Others on the Covid-19 list include Spanish center Marc Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers, Derrick Rose of New York and Jabari Parker and Hassan Whiteside of Sacramento.
